Prior to the introduction of the 9-pin J1939 standard, many trucks, buses, and industrial machines used the SAE J1708 / J1587 protocol, which communicates via a robust 6-pin "Deutsch" connector.
This adapter cable acts as a direct, physical bridge between the vehicle's 6-pin J1708 port and the 16-pin input of a modern truck scanner. This allows technicians and fleet managers to communicate with systems originally accessible only with legacy tools using current diagnostic equipment. The cable is ruggedly built for use in harsh conditions.
Application and functionality:
The cable enables a serial communication connection with vehicle systems communicating via SAE J1708 / J1587. Once connected to a compatible scan tool, users can:
