The Topdon One Lite update licence extends your right to software updates for the One Lite by one year. The One Lite is a diagnostic reader for passenger cars with coverage for more than 200 brands, more than 50 service functions, ECU coding and access to the secure gateway (SGW). While the licence is active, each new software version is delivered via the update menu on the device itself.

When ordering, provide the serial number of your One Lite; this is mandatory. You will then receive the renewal card by email, usually within one working day, and enter the code in the update menu on the device. A renewal keeps the vehicle coverage up to date and keeps the licence-based functions available, as Topdon links ECU coding, TopFix AI, gateway access and the topology map to an active licence. If the licence expires, the One Lite will continue to work on the last installed version, but new versions can no longer be installed.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕When ordering, provide the serial number of your device, as it is mandatory for this renewal.
✕Without a renewal, the vehicle coverage stays where it is, while new cars are added with every model year.
✕The code on the card is single-use; keep the email until you have entered it in the update menu.
✕Downloading requires a stable Wi-Fi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update can take a long time.

Applications and functionality

An active licence affects three parts of the One Lite. These are the vehicle coverage, the function files and the online services. Below is what a renewal provides and what happens if you do not renew.

What an extension gives you

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Wider service functions: Procedures such as oil service, EPB service, battery registration and throttle valve learning continue to cover newer vehicles.
  • Coding and gateway: The files behind ECU coding and SGW access are extended for newer models.

What happens without an extension

  • New versions: Nothing new is added, including no corrections to the software that is already installed.
  • Licence functions: ECU coding, TopFix AI, SGW access and the topology map are no longer available without an active licence.
  • Online side: Services that run via the manufacturer servers may be limited or no longer available after expiry.
  • Existing diagnostics: Reading, clearing, live data, active tests and the more than 50 service functions continue to work as normal on the vehicles already supported.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device there are four steps. The serial number is the only item you need to look up yourself.

  1. Providing the serial number: State the serial number of your One Lite when ordering; this is mandatory.
  2. Receiving the card: You will receive the renewal card with the code by email, usually within one working day.
  3. Entering the code: Open the update menu on the One Lite and enter the code from the card.
  4. Installing updates: Connect the One Lite to Wi-Fi, select the available versions and start the installation.
