The Topdon ADAS software activation unlocks the ADAS calibration software on a compatible device from the Phoenix series. After activation, the device gets an ADAS menu with pre-scan, post-scan and static and dynamic calibration of camera and radar systems, such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and collision warning. For each vehicle, the software shows the setup instructions for the frame and targets.

The activation is a one-time purchase and remains active as long as the device has an active update licence; it is extended along with the diagnostic software. When ordering, please provide the serial number of your device. You will receive the activation code by email, usually within one working day, and enter it via the ADAS menu on the device. The calibration frame and targets are not included with this activation.

Applications and functionality

ADAS calibration is required after, among other things, a windscreen replacement, wheel alignment or repair to the bumper and grille. The activation adds the following functions to the device for this purpose.

What the activation unlocks

  • ADAS pre-scan: Reading the ADAS systems and their fault codes before the repair or calibration.
  • Static calibration: Calibrating in the workshop with a frame and targets for camera or radar.
  • Dynamic calibration: Calibrating during a test drive, with the device guiding the procedure.
  • Setup instructions: For each vehicle, the required targets and the position of the setup.
  • ADAS post-scan: Checking afterwards that no fault codes remain.

What happens when the update licence expires

  • ADAS menu: The ADAS functions are only available as long as the device's update licence is active.
  • After renewal: If you renew the update licence, the ADAS software is available again without a new activation.

Good to know: Before a static calibration, make sure you have a level floor, the correct tyre pressure and an unladen vehicle. The setup instructions on the device assume this starting situation.

How does it work in practice?

From ordering to the first calibration, there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to look up yourself.

  1. Providing the serial number: When ordering, state the serial number of your Phoenix; this is mandatory.
  2. Receiving the code: You will receive the activation code by email, usually within one working day.
  3. Activating: On the device, open the ADAS menu, select Activate and enter the code.
  4. Calibrating: Select the vehicle, follow the setup instructions and start the calibration.
