The Thinkcar Thinktool CE EVD is an advanced, intelligent diagnostic platform for electric vehicles (EV) and is specifically developed for the modern workshop focusing on maintenance and repair of EV technology. This system offers not only OE-level diagnosis for regular vehicle system modules but stands out especially for its extensive support for high-voltage components, Battery packs, and charging management.

The core of the system is a powerful 10-inch HD touchscreen tablet running on the stable Android 10 operating system. The CE EVD offers a smooth user experience and a complete overview of all relevant vehicle systems. What makes the system unique is the innovative THINKDIAG EV VCI – a multifunctional 3-in-1 module that functions as a VCI, oscilloscope, and multimeter. This allows communication not only via the OBD port but also voltage, current, and signal measurements to be performed directly on the Battery pack or HV circuit using the supplied test cables and adapters.

The system is standard delivered with two years of free software updates, focused on EV diagnosis. This gives the user continuous access to the latest functionalities and rapidly growing support for more than 80 brands of electric Cars, including Tesla. Thanks to this specialized approach, the Thinktool CE EVD is an indispensable tool for the EV workshop of today and tomorrow.


Diagnostic functions (EV & conventional):

The Thinktool CE EVD combines in-depth diagnostic capabilities for electric Cars with full support for conventional vehicle systems. This makes the system widely applicable for both EV specialists and universal workshops.

  • Battery pack diagnosis (HV Battery): Via the supplied adapters and test cables, direct connection can be made to the Battery pack for in-depth analysis. Supported measurements include:
    • State of Health (SOH): Assessment of overall Battery health and capacity loss.
    • State of Charge (SOC): The current charge status of the Battery pack.
    • Cell and module measurements: Individual voltages and temperatures of cells or modules.
    • Insulation resistance: Check for leakage currents and safety of the HV system.
    • BMS status: Analysis of communication and parameters of the Battery Management System.
  • High voltage system diagnosis (HV system): Complete readout of EV-specific components such as the electric motor, inverter, onboard charger (OBC) and DC/DC converter. Supports fault code analysis and live data stream per component.
  • Complete system diagnosis: In addition to EV diagnosis, the CE EVD offers full support for conventional systems such as engine, transmission, ABS, airbag (SRS), BCM, steering, climate control, lighting and more – for both electric and combustion Cars.
  • Active tests (bidirectional control): Sends commands to actuators such as cooling fans, pump control, contactors or locking systems, to directly check the operation of components.
  • 30+ maintenance and service functions: Includes an extensive range of reset, learning, and calibration functions for systems such as the EPB, SAS, injectors, BMS, air suspension and more. These are applicable to both EVs and conventional Cars.

Programming and coding features:

The Thinktool CE EVD supports advanced adjustments of vehicle modules through both coding and online programming. These features make the system suitable for configuration, system recovery, and activating specific functions, both for EVs and conventional Cars.

  • ECU coding: Offers the ability to reconfigure electronic modules, such as when learning replacement components, reactivating factory options, or enabling hidden functions (for example, deactivating start/stop, light settings, or mirror settings). This feature is applicable to a wide range of brands.
  • Online programming: Supports factory-based reprogramming of control units for various brands. The latest OEM software versions are retrieved via the cloud, allowing existing ECUs to be updated to the latest version or, after replacement, to be provided with the correct factory data.

Cloud and reporting features:

The Thinktool CE EVD uses modern cloud technology to accelerate diagnostic processes and improve technical support. Reporting and remote collaboration are optimally integrated into the system.

  • Cloud Diagnosis: By using the latest cloud technology, the system analyzes fault codes, system status and Battery data via the Thinkcar Cloud. This accelerates the identification of faults, especially in complex EV systems, and provides direct access to additional interpretations or repair guidance.
  • Professional reports: Generates clear and comprehensive diagnostic reports, including Battery pack data, voltage distribution, fault codes and module information. The reports can be saved, printed or shared with customers as a PDF file – featuring workshop logo and customer details.
  • Remote diagnostics (TeamViewer): Thanks to the built-in TeamViewer functionality, technical support or a remote EV specialist can access the device remotely (with user permission). This is especially valuable when troubleshooting complex or brand-specific faults.

Additional features and special capabilities:

The Thinktool CE EVD is specifically developed for working on electric vehicles and contains unique features that distinguish the system from conventional Diagnostic Tools. The combination of diagnosis, measurement and safety makes this platform particularly suitable for EV specialists.

  • 3-in-1 VCI (THINKDIAG EV): The included VCI unit functions as:
    • Diagnostic interface (VCI): For communication via the OBD port with vehicle systems.
    • Oscilloscope: For visually analyzing electrical signals such as voltage waves or pulse widths.
    • Multimeter: For accurately measuring voltage, resistance and current on high-voltage components.
  • Specialized Battery pack adapters: Comes with a case with 18 different HV connectors (non-standard), allowing direct connection to Battery packs of various EV brands, such as Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Nissan and others.
  • Strong anti-interference capability: The hardware is specially designed to operate without interference near high-voltage circuits and electromagnetic fields such as those present in inverters, DC/DC converters, and battery modules. This guarantees stable and safe measurements, even under harsh conditions.

The Thinktool CE EVD is expandable with various professional accessories, making the system more versatile for specialized workshops for EVs and conventional vehicles.

  • ADAS calibration: Fully compatible with the Thinkcar ADAS calibration frames, allowing driver assistance systems such as lane assist, front assist, and blind spot detection to be accurately adjusted after replacement or realignment of cameras and sensors.
  • TPMS module (ThinkTPMS G2): Supports pairing with the ThinkTPMS G2, enabling full TPMS service, including reading, activating, programming, and learning TPMS sensors.
  • Wireless printer: Compatible with an optional Wi-Fi printer, allowing diagnostic reports to be printed directly from the tablet – without the need for a computer.
