The Tesla 26-pin Full OBD – 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is specifically developed for vehicles equipped with the internal 26-pin diagnostic connector, including the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. This cable facilitates a physical connection between the vehicle-specific connector, usually located behind the center console, and a universal 16-pin OBD2 interface.

The adapter is configured as a so-called Y-cable or splitter, allowing it to be placed between the existing wiring harness and the vehicle module without breaking the original connection. This design taps and passes the internal CAN bus signals to the 16-pin output, enabling advanced telemetry and battery data reading that are not accessible through the standard ports.

Compatible vehicles and applications

This adapter is only suitable for Tesla models equipped with the specific 26-pin connector. This generally concerns vehicles produced after January 2019.

Tesla:

  • Model 3: (2019 - Present) *Note: Only models with 26-pin connector.
  • Model Y: (2020 - Present)

Good to know: The diagnostic connector is usually located at the rear of the center console in the Model 3 and Model Y, under the ventilation openings for the rear passengers. The vehicle must be completely turned off before connecting the cable.
