The OBDSTAR M061 is an adapter cable for the 3-pin diagnostic connector found on Yamaha outboard motors. The 3-pin side connects to the engine's factory diagnostic port, whilst the other end features a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connector for your diagnostic device.

Yamaha equips its outboard engines with a proprietary connector featuring only three pins. This design choice reflects the manufacturer's approach rather than any limitation in data transmission capability, but it does mean that a standard automotive OBD2 cable will not fit. The cable serves as the mechanical and electrical interface between that port and the OBD2 input of your diagnostic hardware, performing no active signal conversion.
