The OBDSTAR M018A is the Yamaha cable set with multiple connectors on the vehicle side: two 3-pin and one 4-pin configuration. They converge into a single 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector that plugs into your OBDSTAR diagnostic equipment.
Yamaha uses a manufacturer-specific diagnostic port on its motorcycles, typically in two configurations: 3+3-pin and 4-pin. Diagnostic communication operates via the K-line among other protocols. The cable provides only the physical connection; protocol recognition and signal assignment are handled by the OBDSTAR device. You select the branch that matches the diagnostic port on the specific motorcycle and thereby access the control units behind that port. Not all Yamaha models and model years are supported; your device's vehicle coverage determines compatibility.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Via the selected branch, you reach the diagnostic port of the Yamaha motorcycle.
Control units you can access
- Engine control unit (ECU): The control unit accessed via the Yamaha diagnostic port.
- Immobiliser components: On supported models, key and immobiliser data can also be accessed through this connection.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Retrieve stored and active diagnostic trouble codes from the motorcycle's ECU.
- Clear fault codes: Erase fault memory after diagnosis and repair work.
- Read live data: Monitor sensor values and system parameters during idle or whilst riding.
- Key and immobiliser programming: Programme keys or immobiliser components, depending on the supported Yamaha model.
- Note: Which of these functions you get varies by model and by OBDSTAR device.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The diagnostic port on the motorcycle is what matters, not the model alone. The Yamaha models listed below are specified as compatible when used with a supported OBDSTAR device; consult OBDSTAR's vehicle coverage for the complete list.
