The OBDSTAR N004 is a conversion Adapter that converts a 3-pin OBD connection to a 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) port, specifically designed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers. The Adapter is designed for use on mopeds and motorcycles from brands that use a proprietary 3-pin diagnostic connector, enabling connection to standard OBD2 diagnostic software and hardware without modification to the vehicle.

The N004 mechanically translates the 3-pin vehicle connector to the 16-pin J1962 interface, enabling the OBDSTAR diagnostic device to communicate via the vehicle's own K-line or CAN-bus connection. The Adapter routes the relevant signal pins to the correct positions in the OBD2 port, allowing the diagnostic device to correctly interpret the diagnostic protocols of the two-wheeler platform. The compact housing allows direct mounting on the vehicle connector without intermediate wiring.

ADVANTAGES

Direct connection between the 3-pin vehicle connector and the OBD2 port without additional wiring or intermediate Adapters.
Compatible with multiple two-wheeler brands, including Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Piaggio, Vespa, and Yamaha.
Compact Adapter housing allows direct mounting on the vehicle diagnostic port without loss of space in the vehicle.

KEY POINTS

The Adapter is exclusively suitable for OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers and does not work with diagnostic systems from other manufacturers.
Not intended for use on passenger cars or commercial vehicles; the scope is limited to mopeds and motorcycles with a 3-pin OBD connector.
Compatibility per model depends on the year of manufacture and the available diagnostic port; not every model within a brand is guaranteed to be supported.

Applications and functionalities

The OBDSTAR N004 adapter supports the following diagnostic applications on two-wheelers with a 3-pin OBD connector, in combination with OBDSTAR readers or programmers.

  • Read fault codes: The reading device can retrieve stored fault memories (DTCs) from the electronic control unit of the two-wheeler via the adapter.
  • Clear fault codes: After diagnosis and repair, fault status and error codes can be cleared from the vehicle system via the adapter.
  • Request live data: Real-time sensor values and driving parameters are read via the K-line or CAN connection and displayed on the diagnostic device.
  • Connection conversion: The adapter mechanically and electrically converts the 3-pin vehicle interface to a standard 16-pin OBD2 J1962 connection, allowing the OBDSTAR device to communicate properly.
