The OBDSTAR TCM-021 is an adapter cable designed for direct connection to the transmission control module (TCM) of vehicles equipped with a ZF 6HP automatic transmission in the variants 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26, 6HP28, and 6HP32. The cable connects the 16-pin TCM connector on the transmission side to a 15-pin DB15 connector for use with compatible OBDSTAR programmers. The Application is aimed at passenger cars from various European and international brands where direct TCM access is required.
The adapter cable allows direct connection of the ZF 6HP TCM to the OBDSTAR programmer, enabling data exchange outside the vehicle OBD port. This is necessary when the TCM is not or only partially accessible via the standard diagnostic port. The cable requires use in combination with the OBDSTAR Converter V2; without this converter, the TCM-021 is not functional. The Converter V2 correctly translates signals to the programming interface level of the connected OBDSTAR device, enabling functions such as reading and writing TCM data.

Application and functionalities
The TCM-021 adapter cable supports the following functions when used with compatible OBDSTAR equipment and the required Converter V2.
- Reading TCM data: The adapter cable provides the connected OBDSTAR device access to the memory content of the ZF 6HP TCM, allowing stored calibration and configuration data to be read.
- Writing TCM data: Modified or replacement TCM data can be written back to the transmission control unit via the direct 16-pin connection, without involving the vehicle's OBD network.
- Transmission control unit programming: When replacing a ZF 6HP TCM, the cable allows programming the new unit with the correct vehicle-specific transmission data.
- Direct bench connection: The cable is suitable for use outside the vehicle (bench mode), where the TCM is connected and serviced separately from the vehicle.
