The OBDSTAR TCM-021 is an adapter cable featuring a 16-pin round connector on the vehicle side for the transmission control module and a 15-pin DB15-connector on the device side. The 16-pin side connects directly to the TCM of a ZF 6HP automatic transmission in the variants 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26, 6HP28 and 6HP32, typically located on or within the transmission housing.
The ZF 6HP series has been widely adopted across many European and international vehicle manufacturers, and the dedicated TCM connection exists to access the unit when the standard diagnostic port is unavailable or non-functional. This cable does not connect directly to the programmer: the TCM-021 functions exclusively in combination with the OBDSTAR Converter V2, which translates signals to the programming interface level of the connected device. Without that converter, the cable will not work. The cable provides access to the ZF 6HP transmission control module and nothing else. Whether you can read data, write data or programme a replacement unit depends on the software of your own OBDSTAR device; the cable itself adds no additional vehicle coverage.

Applications and functions
The TCM-021 connects the transmission control unit of a ZF 6HP automatic gearbox via the Converter V2 to your OBDSTAR device.
Control units you can access
- ZF 6HP transmission control unit: The TCM of the 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26, 6HP28 and 6HP32, via the 16-pin round connector.
- Standalone unit on the workbench: The same connection can be used when the TCM is serviced outside the vehicle.
What you can do
- Read TCM data: Access the memory contents of the ZF 6HP TCM, allowing stored calibration and configuration data to be retrieved.
- Write TCM data: Write modified or replacement data back via the direct 16-pin connection, without involvement of the vehicle OBD network.
- Programme replacement unit: Provision of a new ZF 6HP TCM with the correct vehicle-specific transmission data.
- Work in bench mode: Connect and service the unit outside the vehicle.
- Note: All work described requires both the Converter V2 and an OBDSTAR device whose software supports the relevant function.
