The OBDSTAR TCM-020 is an adapter cable featuring a 23-pin connector on the vehicle side for the transmission module and a 15-pins DB15-connector on the device side. The 23-pin side connects directly to the TEHCM of a GM 6T70, 6T75 or 6T80 Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission — the integrated module housing the transmission computer, solenoids and sensors in a single unit.

Because the TEHCM is an integrated assembly physically located within the gearbox, it has its own 23-pin connector. Via this connector, the cable establishes a bench connection to your OBDSTAR programmer, allowing the module to be read and written outside the vehicle. This means you can perform transmission programming without a running or fully wired vehicle, including GM Generation 1, Gen 2 or Gen 3 modules. The cable is designed exclusively for bench operation: connection via the vehicle's OBD2 port is not possible. It provides access to the transmission module only, and whether reading, programming or cloning is supported depends on your OBDSTAR device's software.

✕Module must be removed — the TEHCM is located within the gearbox and must be removed before connection.

✕Not via the OBD2 port — the cable is intended for bench use only and cannot be connected to the vehicle's diagnostic port; longitudinal or other GM automatics outside the 6T70/6T75/6T80 family are not supported.

Good to know: The GM 6T70, 6T75 and 6T80 transmissions feature an integrated TEHCM that is physically located within the gearbox. For bench programming, this module must first be removed from the transmission; without this removal, you cannot connect the TCM-020. Verify that you can remove the module and that the transmission type is correct before ordering.
