The OBDSTAR TCM-020 is an adapter cable designed for reading and programming the Transmission Electro-Hydraulic Control Module (TEHCM) in vehicles equipped with the GM 6T70, 6T75, or 6T80 Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission. The cable features a 23-pin TCM connector on the transmission module side and a 15-pin DB15 connector on the diagnostic tool side. This adapter cable is exclusively compatible with OBDSTAR diagnostic tools or programmers.
The TCM-020 enables a bench connection where the adapter cable connects directly to the TEHCM — the combined module integrating the transmission computer, solenoids, and sensors in one housing. The connection to the OBDSTAR programmer is made via the DB15 connector, allowing the module to be accessed outside the vehicle for read and write operations. This makes it possible to perform transmission programming without the vehicle being running or fully wired, which is especially applicable for modules of the GM Generation 1, Gen 2, or Gen 3 type.

Applications and functionalities
The TCM-020 Adapter Cable supports the following functions when used with compatible OBDSTAR equipment on GM 6T70, 6T75, and 6T80 transmission modules:
- TCM data reading: Reading the current programming data and calibration parameters stored in the TEHCM, including software version and transmission configuration.
- TCM programming: Writing new software or calibrations to the transmission module via the bench connection, without the vehicle needing to be active or fully wired.
- Clone procedure: Copying transmission programming from a donor module to a replacement TEHCM, applicable when replacing a module within the same transmission family.
- Module identification: Reading module-specific identification data such as Part Number and Calibration ID for verification before and after programming.
