The OBDSTAR TCM-011 is an adapter cable that converts a 6-pin TCM connector to a 15-pin DB15 connection, specifically intended for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers. The cable is designed for the Getrag VGS2-FCVT transmission control unit, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) used by Getrag in compact Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The adapter cable allows direct access to the transmission control module (TCM) without involving the vehicle's OBD2 port.
The cable connects the 6-pin plug of the VGS2-FCVT TCM directly to the DB15 input of the connected OBDSTAR device. Through this connection, the device can communicate with the transmission control unit to read and program TCM data. The direct TCM connection bypasses the vehicle network and allows targeted communication with the transmission module, which is necessary for tasks such as cloning or reprogramming the TCM outside the vehicle. The cable length and connector design are optimized for use in a workshop environment.
