The OBDSTAR TCM-001A connects the 25-pin TCM connector on the Temic DQ200 vehicle side to a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side. The cable connects directly to the transmission control unit of the DQ200 gearbox (0AM/0CW), which sits directly on the transmission.

The DQ200 is the dry seven-speed DSG/S-tronic deployed extensively across the Volkswagen Group platform. During certain diagnostic and programming operations, the control module is not accessible or only partially accessible via the OBD2 port. This cable therefore establishes a direct connection between the TCM connector and the DB15 input of the OBDSTAR device, routing the signals from the 25-pin connector to the correct pin configuration of the DB15 interface. The cable provides access to the unit; it performs no operations itself. What can subsequently be read, written or programmed depends on the software of your own programmer. The cable is furthermore specific to the DQ200 (0AM/0CW): other gearboxes and TCM types within the same group models fall outside its scope.

✕Vehicle disassembly work — the TCM connector is located on the transmission; on many models, partial removal of surrounding components is necessary.

Applications and functionality

Combined with an OBDSTAR programmer, the cable supports the following operations on the DQ200 control unit.

Control units you can access

  • Transmission control module (TCM) Temic DQ200: Connected directly via the 25-pin connector on the transmission.
  • No other control units: The cable provides no access to the rest of the vehicle network; only the TCM is reached.

What you can do

  • Read TCM software: Retrieve the current software version and calibration data directly from the control unit, without using the OBD2 port.
  • Reprogram TCM: Write new or corrected software data to the DQ200 unit via the direct DB15 connection.
  • Process calibration data: Read and write transmission-specific calibration values after replacement or overhaul of the unit.
  • Identify TCM: Obtain hardware number and software version for diagnostics or component verification.
  • Note: First verify which gearbox type is fitted to the vehicle; other transmissions may be present within the same model series.
