The OBDSTAR M014 is the Suzuki cable with dealer/mode switch. On the vehicle side, it features the 4-pin Suzuki connector that connects to the diagnostic socket on the motorcycle; on the other end, the connection to your OBDSTAR diagnostic device or programmer, with the switch integrated into the cable.

Suzuki uses its own 4-pin diagnostic connector on its motorcycles and operates with two communication modes. Using the built-in switch, you can toggle between dealer mode and standard diagnostic mode; this switching may be necessary to access certain vehicle systems and diagnostic ECUs within the Suzuki platform. The cable contains no active components: signals travel over fixed wiring. The cable provides access to the connector and mode switching—nothing more. Which functions are actually available in each mode depends on your device and the supported software version for the relevant Suzuki model.

KEY BENEFITS

Switch integrated into the cable — switching between dealer mode and standard diagnostic mode requires no separate adapter or additional equipment.
Accesses dealer mode — Suzuki-specific vehicle systems that remain out of reach via a standard OBD2 connection become accessible in this mode.
Direct connection to the factory socket — the 4-pin connector fits the motorcycle's diagnostic socket without requiring an intermediate adapter.
Passive design — signal transmission occurs over the cable's fixed wiring, with no active components in between.

KEY POINTS

Suzuki motorcycles with 4-pin connector only — motorcycles fitted with a different Suzuki diagnostic connector require a different cable; check the pin count first.
Switch position is critical to operation — if the switch is set incorrectly, the expected diagnostic mode will not be available.
OBDSTAR equipment only — this cable is not compatible with diagnostic equipment from other manufacturers.
Does not extend vehicle coverage — which Suzuki models and functions are supported depends on the software of your own device.

Applications and functionality

This connection gives you access to the engine control unit of the Suzuki motorcycle, in standard mode or dealer mode.

Control units you can reach

  • Engine control unit (ECU): The control unit connected to the 4-pin diagnostic connector.
  • Diagnostic ECUs in dealer mode: Systems within the Suzuki platform that are only accessible in dealer mode.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes: Retrieve stored and active diagnostic trouble codes from the motorcycle's ECU.
  • Clear fault codes: Erase the fault memory after inspection or repair of the fault.
  • Read live data: Monitor sensor readings and operating parameters during idle or whilst riding.
  • Activate dealer mode: Switch to dealer mode to access extended diagnostic or programming options.
  • Note: Which options appear in dealer mode depends on the connected device and software version for the model.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The 4-pin Suzuki diagnostic connector is the determining factor, not the model. No specific Suzuki models or model years are listed for this cable; model information is found in the OBDSTAR compatibility list.

  • Suzuki: Motorcycles with 4-pin OBD diagnostic connector; consult the OBDSTAR compatibility list for specific models and model years.
💡
Good to know: The 4-pin diagnostic connector is typically located under the seat or behind a cover panel; the exact location varies by model and model year.Check the pin count on your motorcycle's diagnostic connector before ordering.
