The OBDSTAR M052 is the adapter cable for the 6-pin diagnostic connector on Royal Enfield motorcycles. On the vehicle side, it features the manufacturer-specific 6-pin connector; on the device side, a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) plug for your OBDSTAR diagnostic tool.

Royal Enfield does not equip its motorcycles with a built-in OBD2 port, but instead uses a proprietary 6-pin connector. The cable routes the relevant signal lines, including the K-line or CAN-bus communication lines, to your diagnostic device's interface. You do not need to manually determine the pin configuration of the vehicle connector, and no changes are made to the vehicle wiring. Through the standard OBD2 interface of your diagnostic scanner, you can then read vehicle data and perform diagnostic functions. Which functions are available depends on your device's software.

KEY BENEFITS

No wiring intervention — The cable connects directly to the motorcycle's manufacturer-specific 6-pin connector.
Correct conversion to J1962 — The vehicle-specific pin configuration is converted to the standard layout your device recognises.
Multiple models with one cable — From the Himalayan to the 350 series and the Super Meteor 650: all use the same 6-pin connector.
Supports both communication lines — Both K-line and CAN-bus are routed through, depending on the model.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Not for models with a built-in OBD2 port — If the 16-pin port is already present, conversion is not required.
Manufacturer-specific connector — The Royal Enfield 6-pin plug is not universal; other brands with a 6-pin port are not supported.
Exclusively for OBDSTAR equipment — The cable will not work with diagnostic hardware from other manufacturers.
Does not add vehicle coverage — Which systems and functions are available depends on your device's software.

Applications and functionality

Via this connection you can access the engine management of the Royal Enfield.

Control units you can reach

  • Engine management (ECU): The control unit communicated with via the K-line or CAN-bus connection.
  • Other systems: Whether additional modules are accessible alongside the engine system varies by model and device.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes: Retrieve stored and temporary fault codes from engine management via the K-line or CAN-bus connection.
  • Clear fault codes: Delete diagnostic trouble codes after diagnosis or repair, allowing the engine system to register the new status.
  • Display live data: Read current parameters such as engine speed, coolant temperature and driver signals in real time.
  • Identify vehicle: Read the VIN number and other vehicle-specific identification data from the ECU.
  • Note: The available function set varies by model and OBDSTAR device.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The 6-pin diagnostic connector is the determining factor, not the model. The Royal Enfield models listed below are equipped with that connector. Only vehicles with this specific connection are eligible.

  • Bullet 350: (2020–present)
  • Classic 350: (2020–present)

💡
Good to know: The 6-pin diagnostic port on Royal Enfield motorcycles is typically located beneath the side panel or seat; consult the service manual for the exact location on your specific model. Before ordering, verify that your motorcycle has the 6-pin connector and does not already feature a built-in 16-pin OBD2 port.
