The OBDSTAR M052 is an adapter cable that converts a Royal Enfield-specific 6-pin diagnostic connector to a standard 16-pin OBD2 port (J1962). The cable is intended for use with Royal Enfield motorcycles that are not equipped with a built-in OBD2 port but have a brand-specific 6-pin connector. The adapter cable makes it possible to connect OBDSTAR diagnostic and programming equipment to these vehicles without modifying the motorcycle’s wiring.

The cable connects the 6-pin Royal Enfield connector on the vehicle side to a 16-pin OBD2 plug on the device side. Through this connection, the relevant signal lines, including the K-line or CAN bus communication lines, are routed to the diagnostic interface of the connected OBDSTAR device. This allows vehicle data to be read and diagnostic procedures to be performed via the standard OBD2 interface of the diagnostic tool, without manually determining the pin assignment of the vehicle connector.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕ Not suitable for Royal Enfield models that already have a built-in 16-pin OBD2 port, as the conversion is then not necessary.
✕ The cable does not support vehicle brands other than Royal Enfield; the 6-pins connector is brand-specific and not universally applicable.

Applications and functionalities

The Adapter Cable enables the following diagnostic functions on Royal Enfield motorcycles via a connected OBDSTAR device:

  • Read fault codes: Stored and temporary fault codes from the engine management system are read and displayed on the diagnostic device via the K-line or CAN-bus connection.
  • Clear fault codes: After diagnosis or repair, the fault codes can be cleared via the OBDSTAR device, after which the engine system records the new status.
  • Display live data: Current vehicle parameters such as engine speed, coolant temperature, and rider signals are read in real-time via the data connection.
  • Vehicle identification: The VIN number and other vehicle-specific identification data are read from the ECU of the motorcycle.
