The OBDSTAR M003A is a multifunctional OBD adapter cable with a 16-pin OBD2 connector on one side and loose branched wires on the other side. The cable is designed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic and key programming equipment when a direct OBD2 connection is not possible or when certain pins need to be manually connected to a vehicle or bench setup.
The cable connects with the OBD2 plug to the diagnostic device or an intermediate interface, while the loose wires can be connected via crocodile clips, solder joints, or bench adapters to specific pins on an ECU, BCM, or vehicle connector. This keeps signals such as CAN-High, CAN-Low, K-line, and power lines available at the individual wire level, which is necessary for bench and boot-mode operations and vehicles with non-standard OBD2 wiring.
ADVANTAGES
KEY POINTS
Applications and functionalities
The OBDSTAR M003A supports the following connection and signal applications:
- OBD2 connection: Connects the diagnostic device to the vehicle side of the cable via the 16-pin J1962 connector.
- Pin breakout: Splits individual OBD2 pins into loose wires so each line can be connected separately.
- Bench coupling: Connects a removed ECU on the workbench to the diagnostic device via separate power and communication lines.
- CAN-bus access: Provides direct access to CAN-High and CAN-Low for communication with modules not accessible via the standard OBD2 port.
- K-line communication: Enables connection to K-line for older vehicle protocols and specific ECU types.
- Power and ground: Supplies 12V and ground via the loose wires to a bench setup from the vehicle or an external power source.
