The OBDSTAR M085 connects the 12-pin round MTU diagnostic connector on the engine to a 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) port for your OBDSTAR diagnostic equipment. The engine-side connector features a cylindrical housing with a locking ring, characteristic of MTU systems in marine environments.
MTU marine engines in motorboat applications do not have a standard OBD2 port. The cable converts the pin configuration of the 12-pin connector to the corresponding OBD2 pins, ensuring communication protocols such as CAN-bus or K-line reach the diagnostic reader correctly. What the cable unlocks is the engine management system of the MTU engine: fault memory, engine parameters and system data. The cable is designed exclusively for OBDSTAR diagnostic readers and programmers, and the coverage of that device determines what is actually available.
