The OBDSTAR MP001 Kit is a multifunctional programmer that sits alongside your OBDSTAR device on the workbench: it reads, writes and clones EEPROM and MCU memory from control modules and processes the extracted data. OBDSTAR supplies it as a kit for the DC706 and lists it as a requirement with various adapter kits from the KeyMaster G3.
The MP001 is the successor to the P003+ and does everything that adapter does, with one significant difference: it features twelve IO ports instead of four. This allows it to work with SIMOS 18-controllers — these require a special start mode that cannot be operated with four ports. OBDSTAR describes the MP001 as suitable for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles and motorcycles.

Applications and functionality
The MP001 sits between your OBDSTAR device and the external control module. The device determines what happens; the MP001 makes the connection and supplies the voltage.
What you can do with it
- Read and write EEPROM:Read memory blocks, save them and write them back to supported control modules.
- MCU operations:Access the microcontroller of a control module for reading and writing.
- Clone control modules:Transfer the contents of an original module to a replacement.
- Process data:Edit the read data within the OBDSTAR software.
- Access SIMOS 18:Control the special start mode of these controllers, for which the P003+ has insufficient IO ports.

What else you need
The MP001 does not work independently.Below is what else you need.
- OBDSTAR DC706:The device for which OBDSTAR supplies this kit. The DC706 controls the operation; the MP001 makes the connection to the module.
- Or an OBDSTAR KeyMaster G3:OBDSTAR also lists the MP001 as a requirement for KeyMaster G3 adapter kits, such as the BENZ FBS3 Kit and the C4-09 Adapter Kit.
- The external control module:The module comes out of the vehicle; this is bench work, not via the OBD port.
- Soldering equipment:The supplied W-wires are soldered to the contact points of the chip.
If you are working with a C4-09 Adapter Kit or a BENZ FBS3 Kit, the MP001 is the underlying programmer required for operation. These kits cannot function without the MP001.
