The OBDSTAR N027 connects a 3-pin OBD connector on the vehicle side to a 16-pin OBD2 connector (J1962) on the device side. The adapter fits the manufacturer's proprietary three-pin diagnostic port on Kymco and Kawasaki motorcycles, typically located beneath the seat or behind a cover panel near the handlebars.

Both manufacturers use the same three-pin diagnostic port across a range of models instead of a full OBD2 connection. The pin configuration on the vehicle side is matched to the electrical layout of that port, with the relevant signal lines — including the K-line — routed to the corresponding OBD2 pins. The connection is established without any modification to the vehicle's wiring. The adapter provides access to the port; it does not unlock functions.
