The OBDSTAR M011 is an adapter cable that converts a Kawasaki 8-pin OBD connector to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connection. The cable is intended for use with Kawasaki motorcycles equipped with a proprietary 8-pin diagnostic port and enables these vehicles to be connected to OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers with a standard OBD2 input. The cable is exclusively compatible with OBDSTAR readers or programmers.

The adapter cable mechanically and electrically connects the vehicle-side 8-pin Kawasaki connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port of the connected OBDSTAR device. The pin assignment is matched to the communication lines Kawasaki uses for diagnostic communication, including the K-line signal lines applied in these motorcycles. During use, the cable transmits the diagnostic signals from the vehicle to the reader, allowing fault codes to be read and vehicle data to be available for further processing.

ADVANTAGES

Enables direct connection between a Kawasaki 8-pin diagnostic port and a standard 16-pin OBD2 input without intermediate processing.
Pin assignment is specifically tailored to the K-line communication lines of Kawasaki motorcycles, ensuring correct signal transmission.
Compact cable design with mounted connectors at both ends, suitable for practical use without additional tools.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Only suitable for Kawasaki motorcycles with an 8-pin OBD diagnostic port; not applicable to other brands or connector types.
Only compatible with OBDSTAR readers or programmers; does not work with diagnostic equipment from other manufacturers.
Not suitable for Kawasaki models already equipped with a standard 16-pin OBD2 port.

Applications and functionalities

The adapter cable supports the following diagnostic applications when used with compatible OBDSTAR equipment.

  • Reading fault codes (DTC): The cable enables reading diagnostic codes from the motorcycle system via the Kawasaki 8-pin port, allowing faults to be identified.
  • Requesting live data: Through the connection, real-time vehicle parameters such as engine speed, temperatures, and sensor values can be requested during diagnosis.
  • Clearing fault codes: After diagnosis and repair, stored fault codes can be cleared via the cable connection from the connected OBDSTAR device.
  • Vehicle identification: The cable provides access to the vehicle identification data available through the diagnostic port within the motorcycle system.
