The OBDSTAR M006 is the adapter cable for the Kawasaki 4+4-pin diagnostic connector: two separate 4-pin plugs on the vehicle side that combine into a single 16-pin OBD2 connector (J1962). These two connectors attach to the diagnostic ports in the motorcycle's wiring harness.
The Y-split configuration is necessary because Kawasaki distributes the diagnostic lines across two connectors in this design. The cable carries those lines — including the K-line or other vehicle-specific communication lines — through to the OBD2 interface of your device. No signal processing occurs: the conversion is purely mechanical and electrical. Since the cable performs no protocol translation, your own device must support the Kawasaki diagnostic protocol. The cable adds no models or functions of its own.
KEY FEATURES
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Via the dual diagnostic connector, you access the motorcycle's control units.
Control units you can reach
- Engine system: The control unit from which fault codes and measurement data are retrieved.
- Immobiliser system: Key and immobiliser data are accessible, depending on the OBDSTAR device used.
- Other control units: Which additional modules respond varies by model and specification.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Retrieve DTCs from the control units, clear them and reassess fault status.
- Display live data: View real-time sensor values and ride data from the engine system.
- Read control unit: Request ECU information such as software version and system parameters.
- Perform immobiliser work: Access key and immobiliser data for programming or diagnostic work on the anti-theft system.
- Please note: Which of these functions are available depends on the model and your OBDSTAR device.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The 4+4-pin diagnostic connector is what matters, not the model or year of manufacture. The Kawasaki models listed below are confirmed in the product data with that connector. Overlapping years do occur, so if in doubt, first check the connectors on the motorcycle itself.
