The IScan Japan update licence extends your entitlement to software updates by one year. The IScan is not a single device but a range, with each version limited to one brand or one segment. This licence belongs to the IScan Japan and maintains coverage for that specific device. What comes with it are new model years, expanded service functions and corrections to existing software.
The licence is tied to the serial number of your IScan Japan, not to an account or a code. We activate it within one working day on your device's serial number. When the term expires, the IScan Japan will continue to work on the last installed version, but new software will no longer be added.

Applications and functionality
Two things on your IScan Japan are tied to the licence. The coverage determines which models the device knows, and the function files determine what it can do with them.
What an extension provides
- New model years: Models and model years of the Japanese brands for which the device is configured that have been added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
- Service functions: New and corrected procedures come through the same updates.
- Corrections and improvements: Bug fixes and faster routines in the software itself are included.
What happens without an extension
- No supplementary content: New coverage and new procedures will no longer reach the device.
- Online functions: Remote assistance and online functions may be limited or unavailable after expiry.
- No loss of function: What you can do with the device today, you will still be able to do after the licence expires.

How does it work in practice?
From order to updated device is four steps. Allow for some download time if you have not updated for a year.
- Serial number: We need the serial number of your IScan Japan to link the licence; you will find it on the sticker on the back of the device and in the settings menu.
- Registration with the manufacturer: We register your serial number for the new period, usually within one working day.
- Connect the device: Switch on the device and connect it to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Update the software: Update the software with one click from the device itself.
