The OBDSTAR M065 is an adapter cable for the 3-pin diagnostic connector on Evinrude outboard motors. The 3-pin plug connects to the factory diagnostic port on the engine, whilst the other end features a 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector for your diagnostic device.
Evinrude designed its own 3-pin port geometry for its outboard motors. This cable converts that connector to the standard OBD2 pinout that OBDSTAR equipment reads, functioning purely as a passive mechanical and electrical adapter; all signal processing occurs in the connected device. Through this connection, you link the engine management electronics to your diagnostic tool, including E-TEC and similar electronically controlled outboard motors. Which diagnostic functions are available depends on your device and its software support for Evinrude.
