The OBDSTAR M046 is the adapter cable for the 4-pin diagnostic socket on Benelli motorcycles. On the vehicle side, it features the manufacturer-specific 4-pin connector; on the device side, a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector for your OBDSTAR diagnostic tool.
Benelli uses a proprietary 4-pin socket for brake system control that operates independently from the standard diagnostic connection. The cable provides passive pin translation: the relevant signal lines from that socket are mapped to the corresponding pin positions within the J1962-housing, with no additional electronics in the signal path. This connection is designed for ABS diagnostics. Other vehicle systems cannot be accessed through it. What you can perform within the ABS depends on your diagnostic tool's software capabilities.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Through this connection you can access the motorcycle's brake control system.
Control units you can reach
- ABS control unit: The brake control system connected to the 4-pin Benelli socket.
- Other control units: Not accessible via this cable; the socket is designed for ABS diagnostics only.
What you can do
- Read ABS system: Access the ABS via the 4-pin socket with the connected OBDSTAR device.
- Assess fault codes: The data released by the ABS control unit through this connection is displayed on your device.
- Connect without intervention: The socket is used as it sits on the motorcycle; nothing needs to be removed or adjusted.
- Service multiple models: The same cable fits the Benelli models listed below.
- Please note: The scope of application remains limited to ABS diagnostics and is further dependent on your device's coverage.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The 4-pin diagnostic socket is what matters, not the model. The Benelli models listed below are equipped with that socket. Model years are not documented here; the OBDSTAR compatibility list is the definitive reference.
