The OBDSTAR T007 connects a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side to a vehicle-specific air conditioning connector on the vehicle side. This connector is located behind or directly on the air conditioning control panel in the dashboard of Volkswagen passenger vehicles.
The A/C control panel is a separate module that is not accessed via the standard diagnostic route. This cable provides a direct connection between the OBDSTAR diagnostic platform and the panel module, bypassing the OBD2 port of the vehicle. This allows testing of the control panel illumination and associated signal lines, amongst other functions. The cable provides access to this module only; general vehicle diagnostics remain outside its scope. The panel must be removed from the dashboard to make the connection. The source does not specify particular Volkswagen models or model years: only vehicles with a matching A/C connector are compatible, and which tests are available depends on your diagnostic platform.
ADVANTAGES
LIMITATIONS
Applications and functionality
Via the OBDSTAR test platform, the cable supports the following operations on the A/C panel module.
Control units you can access
- A/C panel module:The air conditioning control module is connected directly via the DB15 connection.
- No other control units:The connection does not route through the OBD2 port and therefore does not access other vehicle systems.
What you can do
- A/C panel illumination test:Check the operation of the panel lighting through direct communication with the module.
- Module function test:Control functions of the A/C panel module and assess the response of individual components.
- Evaluate module before replacement:Determine whether the panel itself is causing the fault.
- Operate outside the vehicle network:Test the module without using the OBD2 port.
- Important note:The cable is vehicle-specific; outside the confirmed Volkswagen application with matching A/C connector, it cannot be used.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The A/C connector on the control panel is the determining factor, not the model or year of manufacture. The source does not provide a detailed model list. Only vehicles with a matching connector behind the panel are suitable.
Volkswagen:
- Models with A/C connector (15-pin DB15 connection):Consult the OBDSTAR compatibility list for exact models and years of manufacture.
