The OBDSTAR TCM-Main is an extension cable with a 15-pin DB15 connector at each end. One side connects to the DB15 port on your OBDSTAR diagnostic device or associated interface, whilst the other connects to the transmission adapter or TCM bench setup. There is no vehicle connector fitted: this is an intermediate cable for use within your own measurement configuration.

This cable exists because transmission work rarely takes place directly next to the diagnostic equipment. When a transmission unit is mounted remotely or difficult to access, the extension provides working clearance, so your diagnostic device does not need to sit directly beside the workbench. The connection maintains full signal integrity for read, write and programming operations on transmission control modules. The TCM-Main extends an existing connection only; it does not replace an adapter and adds no new functions. The associated transmission adapter is not included and must be purchased separately, and which operations you can perform remains entirely determined by your own OBDSTAR device and its software.

  • Important: The cable extends the connection only; which operations are possible depends on your OBDSTAR device and the transmission adapter you use.

Compatible vehicles and applications

What matters is the DB15 connection on your equipment, not the vehicle. This is an accessory without a vehicle connector: it connects your equipment together, not to a car. The applications are listed below.

Good to know: A DB15 connection that is plugged in but not secured can come loose during a write operation on the TCM and interrupt communication. Therefore, tighten both connectors fully using the side screws before you begin. Verify that your device and adapter have a genuine 15-pin DB15 connection before ordering.
