Mercedes W166 EIS/ELV to 16-pin OBD2 Adapter Cable
The Mercedes W166 EIS/ELV to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is a specialized programming adapter designed for direct communication with the EIS module (Elektronischer Zündschalter) of vehicles on the W166 platform. The cable is not intended for standard OBD2 diagnostics, but is exclusively used for on-bench programming of disassembled modules.
This direct connection allows powering the EIS module and connecting it to diagnostic and programming equipment, while excluding the rest of the vehicle. The ELV (steering lock) is often integrated or connected via a direct link to the EIS in this generation.
Application and functionality:
This cable is intended for use by professionals with tools such as CGDI MB, Autel IM608, Xhorse VVDI MB, etc. Typical applications:
- Key programming: Teach new keys or erase lost keys – including “All Keys Lost” situations
- Module replacement: Transfer data from defective EIS to a replacement module
