Mercedes ISM to 16-pin OBD2 Adapter Cable
The Mercedes ISM to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is a specialized diagnostic and programming adapter designed for direct communication with the Intelligent Servo Module (ISM) of the 7G-Tronic (722.9) automatic transmission. This module, also known as the A80 module, controls the electronic gear selection. The cable is not intended for standard vehicle diagnostics, but for on-bench programming of a disassembled ISM.
This direct connection is necessary for operations such as renewing a used ISM module, data transfer to a donor unit, or personalization of a new ISM. The cable supplies power and provides a stable CAN-bus communication line with programming tools, bypassing the rest of the vehicle electronics.
Application and functionality:
The cable is used in combination with specialized tools such as CGDI MB, Autel IM608, Xhorse VVDI MB, Abrites etc. for the following tasks:
- Renew: Reset a used ISM to factory settings
- Data cloning: Read data from a defective ISM and transfer it to a replacement unit
- Personalization and activation: Pair a new ISM with the vehicle
- Fault diagnosis: Test the ISM on the workbench without installation in the car
Professional equipment and experience are required. Not for use via the standard OBD2 port.
