Mercedes 7G TCU to 16-pin OBD2 Adapter Cable
The Mercedes 7G TCU to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is a specialized programming adapter, developed for direct communication with the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) of the 7G-Tronic (722.9) automatic transmission of Mercedes-Benz. The TCU – also called EHS or mechatronics unit – is removed from the gearbox and programmed via this cable on the workbench (on-bench).
The cable supplies the TCU with power and creates a direct CAN bus connection to programming equipment. This allows complex operations such as renewing, cloning, initializing, and testing without intervention from the vehicle electronics.
Application and functionality:
This cable is used by transmission specialists and ECU programmers in combination with tools such as CGDI MB, Xhorse VVDI MB, Autel IM608, Abrites and similar systems. Key applications:
- Renew: Reset a used TCU to factory settings for relearning
- Data cloning: Complete software and coding transfer from defective to donor module
- Personalization: Pairing a new TCU to the vehicle (via workbench)
- Fault diagnosis: Testing TCU functionality and sensors outside the vehicle
