The Launch X-431 V+ SmartLink HD update licence extends your right to software updates for the V+ with SmartLink HD for one year. The V+ with SmartLink HD is an X-431 V+ tablet with the SmartLink C 2.0 interface, designed for heavy-duty vehicles, buses, trailers and agricultural and construction machinery. The SmartLink C 2.0 is the successor to the HD III module and transforms the tablet into a diagnostic device for 12 volt and 24 volt systems, with diesel particulate filter regeneration, injector coding, speed limiter adjustment and AdBlue system management. As long as the licence remains valid, each new software version is available through the update menu on the device itself.

When placing your order, you must provide the serial number of your V+ with SmartLink HD; this is mandatory. You will then receive the renewal card by email, typically within one working day, and enter the code in the update menu of your device. Renewing the licence keeps the commercial vehicle coverage and the service procedures current, and with trucks, buses and machinery, this is where the real benefit lies. When the licence expires, the V+ with SmartLink HD will continue to operate on the last installed version, but you will no longer be able to install new versions.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕When ordering, you must provide the serial number of your device, as this is mandatory for this renewal.

✕Without renewal, the programming files remain unchanged, yet manufacturers modify them most rapidly in these very areas.

✕An extension provides software and not hardware, so the modules for oscilloscope, videoscope, TPMS, key programming and battery testing must be purchased separately.

✕Downloading requires a stable WiFi connection; on a congested guest network, a large update can take considerable time.

Applications and functionality

An active licence covers three aspects of the V+ with SmartLink HD. These are the vehicle coverage, the function files and the online services. Below you will find what an extension provides and what happens if you do not extend.

What an extension provides

New vehicle coverage: Makes, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
Expanded service functions: Procedures such as DPF regeneration, injector coding, speed limiter adjustment, NOx sensor reset, suspension system calibration and PTO settings remain current with newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
Programming files: The files behind ECU programming are updated for newer control units.

What happens without an extension

New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
Online services: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
Existing diagnostics: Reading, clearing, live data and active tests on already supported vehicles continue to function normally.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device, the four steps. The serial number is all you need to locate yourself.
