The Launch X-431 Pro 5 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the Pro 5 with one year. The Pro 5 is a ten-inch tablet with the separate SmartLink C V2.0 interface, supporting over one hundred and fifty vehicle brands. Between software updates, the device itself remains unchanged, whilst the vehicle fleet arriving at your workshop continues to evolve. The device records a topology map of the vehicle network with fault status per module, recognises CAN FD and DoIP and works with intelligent diagnostics that the vehicle identifies via the cloud.
A licence renewal keeps the vehicle coverage, the service procedures and the cloud services also; intelligent diagnostics, remote diagnostics and online reports require an active licence according to the manufacturer. The renewal is processed via an card with a code which you receive by email and enter yourself into the update menu . We need the serial number of your Pro 5 is required, so please provide this when ordering. Without renewal, the device remains functional on the version currently installed.

POINTS TO NOTE
✕Provide the serial number of the device with your order; this is mandatory for this renewal.
✕New EV models and battery pack diagnostics are available only whilst the licence remains active.
✕A renewal provides software only, not hardware, so ADAS calibration equipment and hardware for key programming and EEPROM operations must be purchased separately.
✕Vehicle connection plays no role in updates; everything occurs via Wi-Fi and the charger.
Applications and functionalities
What a renewal on the Pro 5 actually does is easiest to understand by dividing the software into three parts. There is the vehicle coverage, there are the function files and there is the online platform. All three advance with an active licence.
What a renewal provides
- New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
- Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service reset, engine angle sensor calibration, petrol particulate filter regeneration, adaptive cruise control calibration and high-voltage battery service continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers update their systems.
- High-voltage functions: Battery pack and powertrain diagnostics follow the latest electric vehicle models.
What happens without renewal
- No updates: New coverage and new procedures no longer reach the device.
- Online functions: Anything the software does not have built-in may stop working afterwards.
- What remains: Everything the device can do at that moment, it will continue to do; the Pro 5 does not lose value, it simply does not become newer.

How does it work in practice?
In practice, it's four steps and then wait for the download. We only need the serial number from you.
- Ordering with serial number: Provide the serial number of the Pro 5 when ordering, as we cannot process anything without that number.
- Code by email: We send you the renewal card digitally, usually within one working day.
- Activate on the device: On the Pro 5, go to the update menu and enter the code there.
- Update: Ensure you have wifi, tick the new versions in the update menu and let the installation run.
