This adapter cable connects the 6-pin diagnostic port of KTM motorcycles to a diagnostic tool with a 16-pin OBD2 connector. On most models the port is located under the seat, often under the pillion seat.

Without this cable, your OBD2 diagnostic tool will not fit the motorcycle. With the cable you can read fault codes and live data from the engine management system, and with suitable software you can also access the ECU. The cable supports K-Line and CAN-BUS and only physically converts the connector. The diagnostic tool must itself handle KTM diagnostics.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Your diagnostic tool must support KTM diagnostics via this 6-pin port; the cable does not convert protocols.
✕A simple EOBD code reader for passenger cars does not work via this cable.
✕Euro 5 KTM models have a different 6-pin port and require their own cable.
✕Which systems you can access varies by model, year of manufacture and diagnostic tool.

How to use it

  1. Locate the port: Remove the seat and find the 6-pin connector.
  2. Remove the cap: Take off the protective cap from the port.
  3. Connect: Insert the 6-pin connector of the cable into the port.
  4. Connect the diagnostic tool: Attach the 16-pin connector.
  5. Read out: Switch the ignition on and select KTM and the model.

Compatible vehicles and applications

Decisive is the 6-pin KTM diagnostic port from before Euro 5. The cable is suitable for, among others, the following models:

KTM:

  • 1190 Adventure: From model year 2013.
  • 1050 Adventure: From model year 2015.
  • 1090 Adventure: From model year 2017.
  • 1290 Super Duke R: 2014 to 2020.
  • 1290 Super Duke GT: 2016 to 2021.
  • 690 Duke and 690 Duke R: From model year 2016.
  • 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R: 2019 to 2021.
💡
Good to know: The 6-pin port is usually under the pillion seat, often beneath a protective cap. If in doubt, first check under the seat: Euro 5 models have a different connector.
