This universal 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) female connector is identical to the diagnostic port found in modern vehicles. The connector is equipped with a 30 cm long wiring harness where all 16 pins are individually connected to color-coded open end cables. This "pigtail" design makes the product extremely suitable for custom applications, development work, and repair.
Although this product is often referred to as a Kia/Hyundai OBD2 port, the plug is physically and electrically fully universal according to the SAE J1962 standard. Therefore, this connector is applicable to vehicles of almost any brand, provided they have a standard OBD2 interface.
Application and functionality:
The open end cables make this connector flexibly usable for various applications on the vehicle side:
- Repair: Replacement of damaged or corroded OBD2 ports
- On-bench programming: Construction of diagnostic harnesses for ECUs or dashboards outside the vehicle
- Prototyping: For building telematics solutions, scan tools, or data loggers
- Integration: For fixed connection of aftermarket equipment to the CAN bus network
Note: this is not a ready-made adapter cable, but a development component. Correct connection requires a vehicle-specific diagram.
Compatibility:
The connector complies with the SAE J1962 Type A standard and is physically compatible with all standard OBD2 diagnostic tools and dongles. Applicable for:
- Kia: All models from approx. 2001
- Hyundai: All models from approx. 2001
- Universal: For any vehicle with a 16-pin OBD2 system (gasoline from 2001, diesel from 2004)
The color coding of the pigtail wires is not brand-specific – always consult the correct wiring diagram.
