The Julie Renault/Nissan | IMMO OFF & ESL/ELV | Emulator is an electronic module specifically developed to replace or simulate signals from the original immobilizer and electronic steering lock. The main application is to emulate the IMMO signal to the engine control unit (ECU) or to replace a defective ESL/ELV module. This enables diagnostic procedures or starting the vehicle when the original components are not functioning, for example in case of lost key data or a mechanical defect in the steering lock.

This emulator is compatible with a wide range of vehicle models from Renault and Nissan using various ECU types and communication protocols, including systems operating via the CAN-bus. The use of the Julie Renault/Nissan | IMMO OFF & ESL/ELV | Emulator is intended solely for testing and workshop use. Permanently disabling the IMMO function may negatively affect the vehicle's theft protection and may be subject to legal restrictions depending on local regulations.


Applications and functionalities:

  • IMMO OFF (disable immobilizer blocking): Used to enable the engine start procedure when the original IMMO system is defective. The emulator provides a correct authorization signal to the engine control unit (ECU), allowing the vehicle to start without a valid signal from the transponder key.
    • Renault: Compatible with various ECUs such as Bosch EDC15/EDC16/EDC17, Delphi DDCR/DCM1.2, Siemens/Continental EMS31xx/SID3xx, and Sagem S2000/S3000.
    • Nissan: Supports vehicles with NATS 4 and NATS 5 immobilizer systems, such as the Almera, Micra, and Primera with compatible ECUs.
  • ESL/ELV (steering column lock replacement): Simulates the operation of a functional ESL/ELV module. A common defect in Renault and Nissan models is a failing steering column lock, resulting in a start lockout. The emulator replaces the defective unit and permanently sends an "unlocked" signal.
    • Applicable to models such as Renault Megane II/III, Scenic II/III, Clio III/IV, Laguna II/III, Captur, and Fluence.
  • Signal simulation: The module generates the specific digital signals that the ECU expects from the original IMMO system or the ESL/ELV unit, including the authorization code that releases the engine start.
  • Fault isolation: Enables determining whether a starting problem is caused by the immobilizer or the steering column lock by simulating these components for testing purposes.
  • Component replacement: Provides an alternative to repairing expensive original IMMO or ESL/ELV components, specifically for test and diagnostic circuits.
