The Jaltest MDC14 is the ETM multipin cable for brake pad wear sensors. On one end is a 16-pin OBD2 connector in a black housing marked MDC14; on the other end, three leads terminate in three individual test probes in blue, black and red. Using these loose probes, you connect directly to the sensor terminal rather than to a fixed mating connector. That is what multipin means in this context.

With this cable, you measure brake pad wear sensors on commercial vehicles using the Jaltest ETM, the test module that allows you to assess components independently of the control unit. The cable does not work standalone: you need the ETM itself connected to a Jaltest Link, with an ETM licence and an active CV or Modular software licence.

KEY BENEFITS

Designed specifically for brake pad wear sensors, enabling you to test the component directly with the test module.
Terminates in three individual test probes in blue, black and red, allowing you to connect directly to the sensor terminal instead of a fixed connector.
The ETM functions as a test module for componentsthe measurement is complete, allowing you to assess the sensor independently from the rest of the installation.
Connect to the Jaltest Linkvia the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the MDC100.9 adapter cable for an earlier ETM version.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Count the pins before ordering: This cable has three and goes to the brake wear sensor, whilst the MDC13 in the same configuration two has, in green and yellow, and for the speed sensor is.
TheMDC10 and the MDC11 approach the same brake wear sensor, but with a fixed round 3-pin connector instead of individual test leads. First check how the sensor is connected in your setup.
Requires a ETM licence alongside an active CV or Modular software licence; once that software licence expires, the ETM will not function until it has been renewed.
The cable works not standalone: Without the Jaltest ETM on a Jaltest Link you cannot take any measurements, and the Jaltest ETM does not run on the

.Applications and functionalityUsing this cable, the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the sensor without going through the vehicle's control unit. Below you will find what you use the cable for and what the ETM does in the process.

What you use this cable for

  • Testing brake pad wear sensors: This is the auxiliary cable for brake pad wear sensors on commercial vehicles.
  • Loose test pins: You connect the three pins directly to the sensor connector without a fixed mating connector.
  • Counterpart MDC13: That cable has two test pins, in green and yellow, and is the auxiliary cable for speed sensors.
  • Always used with the ETM: The cable is used with the Jaltest ETM on a Jaltest Link.

What the ETM does

  • Testing components: The ETM is the test module for components within Jaltest.
  • EBS modulators: Cables MDC02 through MDC09 are designed for the EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse and Wabco.
  • Speed sensors: For these there are MDC12 and MDC13.
  • Brake pad wear sensors: For these there are MDC10, MDC11 and MDC14.
  • Connection to the Jaltest Link: Via the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the adapter cable MDC100.9 for an earlier ETM version.

What you will need

  • Jaltest ETM: The component test module itself.
  • Jaltest Link: The ETM connects via the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the MDC100.9 adapter cable for earlier ETM versions.
  • ETM licence:Without this licence, the ETM will not operate. Annual renewal has reference 29701.
  • An active Jaltest software licence:Either a CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
💡
Good to know:The ETM hardware, software and usage rights align with your Jaltest software licence expiry date. If your licence runs for more than a year beyond purchase, only the amount for the remaining period will be charged. Once the licence expires, the ETM will not function until it is renewed.Check your Jaltest licence expiry date before placing your order.
