\nThe Jaltest MDC13 is the ETM multipin cable for speed sensors. On one end there is a 16-pin OBD2 connector in a black housing marked MDC13; this connects to the Jaltest ETM. On the other side, two loose wires run to two loose measurement pins of the banana plug type, one green and one yellow. This allows you to connect directly to the speed sensor: There is no fixed mating connector included; you insert the two pins yourself onto the contacts. That is what multipin means in this context.\n

\nWith this connection you measure speed sensors from commercial vehiclesthrough with theJaltest ETM, the diagnostic modulewhereby you assess components independently of the control unit. The cable does not work standalone: you will need the ETM itself in addition to it on aJaltest Link, with a ETM licence and a running CV or Modular software licence.\n

KEY FEATURES

Designed for speed sensors, so you can measure the component directly with the test module.
Works with two loose measurement pins, green and yellow, allowing you to measure on a sensor connection where no fixed mating connector is available.
The ETM functions as a test module for componentsthe measurement is complete, allowing you to assess the sensor independently from the rest of the installation.
Connect to the Jaltest Linkvia the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the MDC100.9 adapter cable for an earlier ETM version.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The sister cableMDC14 is the same configuration, but features three measurement pins (blue, black and red) and is intended for the brake pad wear sensor. Count the pins accordingly: two for the speed sensor, three for the brake pad wear sensor. For the EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse and Wabco, cables MDC02 through MDC09 are intended.
Requires a ETM licence alongside an active CV or Modular software licence; once that software licence expires, the ETM will not function until it has been renewed.
The ETM does not work on the Jaltest handhelds; you cannot use it on those devices.
The cable works not standalone: Without the Jaltest ETM and a Jaltest LinkYou cannot measure anything with it.

Applications and functionality

Via this cable, the Jaltest ETM directly with the speed sensor, without intermediary control unit of the vehicle. Below you will find what the cable is used for used and what the ETM does in this context.

What this cable is used for

  • Probing with individual test leads:You place the green and yellow test leads yourself on the sensor connection contacts.
  • Trailer adapter MDC14:Same configuration with three measurement pins, designed for the brake pad wear sensor.
  • Always paired with the ETM:The cable is used with the Jaltest ETM on a Jaltest Link.

What the ETM does

  • Test components:The ETM is the test module for components within Jaltest.
  • EBS modulators:The MDC02 to MDC09 cables are designed for the EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse and Wabco.
  • Speed sensors:For this purpose, there are MDC12 and MDC13.
  • Brake pad wear sensors:For that purpose, there are MDC10, MDC11 and MDC14.
  • Connection to the Jaltest Link:Via the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the MDC100.9 adapter cable for an earlier ETM version.

What you'll need

  • Jaltest ETM:The component test module itself.
  • Jaltest Link:The ETM connects via the ETM interface for V9 (70001007), or via the MDC100.9 adapter cable for earlier ETM versions.
  • ETM licence:Without that licence, the ETM will not operate. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
  • A valid Jaltest software licence:A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
💡
Good to know:Hardware, software and usage rights for the ETM are aligned with the expiry date of your Jaltest software licence.
