The Jaltest JDC632A connects the 6-pin diagnostic connector of small Mercury and Tohatsu outboard motors to a standard 16-pin OBD2 interface. The 6-pin connector is located under the engine cover; on the interface side, the cable fits the 16-pin OBD2 cable of the Jaltest Link, without an additional SubD-26 extension cable.

Mercury and Tohatsu share the same engine control system in the 10-20 hp class. In the coverage, this is listed as ECM by Tohatsu under the Mercury models and as ECM under the Tohatsu model names, with the same function set. You can read fault codes, measured values and live data and carry out component tests. The cable is covered by Jaltest Marine.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Only the 10-20 hp models. For a Tohatsu from the 40-60 hp class, the JDC633A is the correct 6-pin cable.
✕Parameters, calibration and a maintenance reset are not covered for this engine control unit; you can read, measure and test.
✕For the 6-pin connector only; heavier Mercury and Tohatsu outboard motors have a different diagnostic connector.
✕This version ends in 16-pin OBD2. If you work from the SubD-26 port of the Link, the JDC632.9 is the correct cable.

Applications and functions

With this cable you make the connection between the Jaltest Link and the engine control unit of small Mercury and Tohatsu outboard motors. The connection runs from the 6-pin connector under the engine cover to the 16-pin OBD2 cable of the Link.

How to use it

  1. Open the cover: Locate the 6-pin connection under the engine cover.
  2. Connect: Insert the 6-pin plug of the JDC632A into it.
  3. Link connection: Connect the OBD2 end to the OBD2 cable of the Link.
  4. Ignition on: Switch the engine's ignition on.
  5. Read out: Select Mercury or Tohatsu and the model in Jaltest Marine.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector is decisive, not the model. The cable fits any Mercury or Tohatsu outboard motor from the 10-20 hp class with the 6-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest Marine covers the models listed below.

Mercury:

  • 20 FourStroke: ECM by Tohatsu control unit.
  • 15 SeaPro: ECM by Tohatsu control unit.

Tohatsu:

💡
Good to know: The engine side is the ivory-coloured 6-pin connector under the engine cover, with six contact positions in two rows. This version is recognised by the trapezoidal OBD2 connector, the black plastic housing halfway along the cable and the blue marking ring just before the 6-pin plug. If you work with the SubD-26 port of the Link, you need the JDC632.9.
