The Jaltest JDC632A is the adapter cable that connects the 6-pin diagnostic connector of small Mercury and Tohatsu outboard motors to a standard 16-pin OBD2 interface. The 6-pin connector is located beneath the engine cover; on the interface side, the cable connects directly to the 16-pin OBD2 cable of the Jaltest Link, without requiring an additional SubD-26 extension cable. Mercury and Tohatsu share the same engine control module and therefore the same 6-pin connector in the 10–20 hp power class.
This cable routes the communication lines through to the Jaltest Link, establishing direct communication with the engine control module. This gives the diagnostic equipment access to the Engine Control Module, which appears in Mercury model documentation as ECM by Tohatsu and in Tohatsu model names as ECM, with identical functionality in both cases. The function set is read-only: fault codes, measured values, live data and component tests are included; parameters, calibration and maintenance reset are not. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

What you receive
You get one black adapter cable with a 16-pin OBD2 connector on the interface end in the familiar trapezoid shape. Halfway along the cable sits a black rectangular plastic housing, from which the cable continues towards the engine end. The engine end terminates in the ivory-coloured 6-pin connector used by Mercury and Tohatsu, featuring six contact positions in two rows and a blue identification ring on the sheath just before the connector.
Applications and functionality
With this cable, you establish a diagnostic connection between the Jaltest Link and the engine control unit of small Mercury and Tohatsu outboard motors. The connection runs from the 6-pin connector beneath the engine cover to the 16-pin OBD2 cable of the Link. Below you will find which control module you can access and which functions the software offers for it.
Control modules you can access
- ECM by Tohatsu, Engine Control Module: This is how the engine control unit appears in the coverage of Mercury models in this power class, with fault codes, measured values, component activation, live data and the control unit's own information.
- ECM, Engine Control Module: The same control unit under the Tohatsu model designation, with the same feature set.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View measured values: The current readings from sensors connected to the engine control unit.
- Activate components: Active tests on the engine control unit, including direct tests on fuel injection and ignition.
- Monitor live data: Track values in real time whilst the engine is running.
