The Jaltest JDC220A connects directly to the control unit of the Knorr-Bremse EBS 5, which carries its diagnostic line on the unit itself. Behind the 16-pin OBD2 head, the cable splits into two branches, each with a rectangular 18-pin connector arranged in three rows of six: one with pins, the other with sockets.
You disconnect the existing connection between the control unit and the wiring harness and fit this cable in between, so the braking system stays connected while you read it. The Jaltest software then reads fault codes and measured values, activates components, adjusts parameters and carries out resets. Some of these are available with the Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics module (ref. 71502007).

Applications and functions
Via this connection, the Jaltest software gives access to the electronically controlled braking system from Knorr-Bremse. Because the cable runs in-line between the control unit and the wiring harness, the system remains connected during measurement.

How to use it

- Fit in between: Place the JDC220A between the unit and the wiring harness.
- Connect the link: Connect the OBD2 side to the Jaltest cable.
- Read out: Select Knorr-Bremse EBS 5 in Jaltest.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The control unit determines compatibility, not the vehicle make. The cable is for the Knorr-Bremse EBS 5, which you can recognise by the two 18-pin connectors that meet on the unit, not by an OBD connector elsewhere. An 18+18-pin connection on an ABS 6 or ABS24/EU12 unit belongs to the JDC305A.
Knorr-Bremse:
- EBS 5: The electronically controlled braking system for which this cable is made.
- ABS 6 and ABS24/EU12: The same 18+18-pin layout, but a different brake generation; the JDC305A is intended for these.
Scope:
- Vehicle make: Not decisive; the cable follows the Knorr-Bremse unit.
