The Jaltest 50004016 is the TPMS programmer by Jaltest: A handheld device for checking, reading and programming the tyre pressure sensors in the wheel. TPMS is the abbreviation as shown on the device screen; in full it stands for tyre pressure monitoring system. The device is housed in a black rubber protective casing, weighs 1.332 g and measures 250 x 145 x 95 mm.

All controls are located on the device itself: A colour display, four navigation keys surrounding an OK button, a separate C button and a red power button. Below the screen are the indicators Tx, Fail and Pass and a charge indicator, so you can immediately see the result of a sensor check. Because the device has its own screen and its own power supply, you can navigate the entire sensor menu without PC.

ADVANTAGES

✔Standalone handheld device: Own colour display, own buttons and own power supply, so you can work through the sensor menu directly on the device.
✔The result is displayed in text below the screen: Fail and Pass per sensor, with a Txindicator for transmission alongside.
✔The home screen offers six functions in tiles, from the sensor diagnostics to transferring sensor data.
✔A large OK button in the centre of four navigation keys, with a rubber protective casing around the entire housing.

LIMITATIONS

✕The home screen displays sensor functions only. This is a tool for the sensor in the wheel and not a full diagnostic reader for the vehicle.
✕For this device, only the weight and the dimensions are specified. Transmission frequencies and supported sensor types are not documented; check the menu on the device itself for these details.
✕With 1.332 g and 250 x 145 x 95 mm this is not a pocket instrument, but a device that goes in the workshop or service vehicle.
✕The package contains only the device itself; cables, an adapter or a case are not included.

Applications and functionality

The home screen of the Jaltest 50004016 displays six functions in tiles. The menu is entirely focused on the sensor in the wheel designed for: Check, read, transfer data and record results. The list below outlines the tiles as they appear on the screen.

  • Check sensor: The home screen opens on the CHECK SENSOR function, the sensor check.
  • Sensor reading: A tile showing a sensor transmitting waves, for retrieving data from the wheel.
  • Select vehicle: A tile showing a truck transmitting waves, selected at startup.
  • Wheel and tyre: A tile showing a tyre and tools, for work on the wheel itself.
  • Transfer sensor data: A tile with a data block and an arrow pointing to a valve sensor, for describing or copying a sensor.
  • Overview and settings: A tile with a clipboard and tick marks, and a tile with two gears.

What you read on the device

  • Colour display: The menu is displayed in tiles, with the name of the selected function shown on the bar below.
  • Tx: Indicator below the screen for transmission.
  • Fail and Pass: The result of a sensor check, displayed as text below the screen.
  • Charging indicator: A battery symbol below the screen and a battery symbol in the display status bar.
  • Indicator above the buttons: A green indicator with a wireless symbol.

Independent operation on the sensor

The device does its work on the sensor in the wheel: You select the function on the screen, hold the device at the tyre and reads the result on the display. The no PC required, as screen, buttons and power are built into the device. Below is what that means in practice means.

What that means in practice

  • At the wheel: You select the function on the screen, hold the device against the tyre and read the result on the display.
  • When replacing a sensor: The function for transferring sensor data is on the home screen, so you can transfer the data from the old sensor to the new one.
  • When performing a check: Fail and Pass appear below the screen, so the result is readable for each wheel.
  • Alongside Jaltest software: The device carries the Jaltest brand and the Cojali logo, and the software on the screen is called jaltest TPMS. It remains a standalone device with its own menu.
💡
Useful to know: The abbreviation TPMS also appears on the device screen; in full it is a tyre pressure monitoring system. On the home screen there is a truck as vehicle selection, so this device is aimed at commercial vehicles Check the wheel to see which sensor is fitted before you order.
