The Autool AS506 is a professional brake fluid tester that measures the actual boiling point of brake fluid instead of just estimating the water content. The device heats a fluid sample via the integrated probe and continuously records the temperature until the boiling point is reached. Because moisture in brake fluid directly lowers the boiling point — increasing the risk of vapor lock during intensive braking — this measurement method provides the most reliable indication of the fluid’s actual condition.
The AS506 has two test modes. In normal mode, the device tests nine fluid types: DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 4+, DOT 4 ESP, DOT 5, DOT 5.1, DOT 5.1 ESP, ENV4, and ENV6. In brand mode, the device directly compares the measurement with factory values of fourteen brake fluid brands, including ATE, TRW, Bosch, Motul, Brembo, Textar, and Ferodo. The result appears within about 16 seconds on the illuminated LCD screen, along with the official dry and wet boiling point values for reference.
ADVANTAGES
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Features
- Boiling Point Measurement: Heats the fluid sample via the probe and records the actual boiling point within a measurement range of 0 to 320 °C.
- Condition assessment: Compares the measured boiling point with international standard values (dry/wet), so it is immediately clear whether the brake fluid needs to be replaced.
- Brand mode: Matches the measurement with factory values of 14 common brands, including ATE, TRW, Bosch, Mobil, Total, Fuchs, Motul, Delphi, Ferodo, Brembo, and Textar.
- Maintenance advice: Supports workshops in justifying brake fluid replacement to customers with an objective measurement value instead of an indicator light.
Use in four steps
- Take sample: Use the sampler to draw 40-50 ml of brake fluid from the reservoir and pour it into the measuring cup.
- Connect and set up: Connect the device to a 12V battery, turn it on, and select the fluid type or brand.
- Place probe: Insert the measuring probe into the cup and ensure the measuring opening is fully submerged in the fluid.
- Start test: Hold the S button for about 16 seconds; after the progress bar fills, the measured boiling point will appear on the screen.
