The Autel MaxiIM IM608 Pro II update licence extends your right to software updates for the MaxiIM IM608 Pro II by one year. What the device can do is determined by the software, not the hardware. The IM608 Pro II is a 10.1-inch key programmer and diagnostic tablet running Android 10, with a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, supplied with the MaxiFlash JVCI+ and the XP400 Pro.

The licence is linked to the serial number of your MaxiIM IM608 Pro II, not to an account or a code. We activate it within one working day on the serial number of your device. An extension keeps the vehicle coverage, the key and immobiliser files and the more than 40 service functions up to date. When the term expires, nothing changes to what is already on the device, but new software is no longer added.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕One licence applies per serial number, so a second IM608 Pro II in the same workshop needs its own extension.
✕An extension provides software and no hardware, so the G-BOX3, the APB112 and the adapter kits remain a separate purchase.
✕Offline coding does not work with Autel for Mercedes-Benz; there it runs via the online side.
✕Downloading requires a stable Wi-Fi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update may take a long time.

Applications and functionality

Three things on the MaxiIM IM608 Pro II depend on the licence. The vehicle coverage determines which vehicles the device recognises, the function files determine what it may do with them, and the online services provide what comes from outside.

What an extension gives you

  • New vehicle coverage: Makes, models and model years added since your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Key and immobiliser files: New vehicles and new procedures for creating keys, learning and immobilisers become available.
  • Coding and programming files: The files behind coding and J2534 programming are expanded.
  • Service functions: New and corrected service and reset procedures are added through the same updates.
  • Corrections and improvements: Bug fixes and faster routines within the software itself are delivered through the same updates.

What happens without an extension

  • No additions: New coverage and new procedures are no longer added to the device.
  • Online functions: Anything that runs via the manufacturer's servers may be limited or no longer available after expiry.
  • No loss of functionality: What you do with the device today, you can still do after the licence expires.

How does it work in practice?

The process takes four steps. Allow for some download time if you have not updated for a year.

  1. Serial number: We need the serial number of the MaxiIM IM608 Pro II to link the licence; it is in the settings menu under the device details and on the sticker on the rear.
  2. Registering with the manufacturer: We register your serial number for the new period, usually within one working day.
  3. Preparing the device: Connect the device to the charger and make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection before you start the download.
