The Autel EV Diagnostics Upgrade Kit is a professional set of diagnostic accessories designed to expand existing Autel MaxiSys systems to full EV diagnostics. This kit includes the EVDiag Box and an extensive set of vehicle-specific adapters for direct reading of high-voltage batteries. The system is primarily developed for performing in-depth battery analyses at the component level, directly communicating with the battery management system (BMS) of electric vehicles. The hardware acts as a communication interface between the MaxiFlash VCI or VCMI and the battery pack, enabling safe and accurate reading outside the vehicle or directly at the battery terminals.

For physical integration in the workshop, the communication module is connected to compatible diagnostic tablets such as the MaxiSys Ultra, MS919, or MS909. Once the serial number of the EVDiag Box is activated in the system software, the diagnostic tool immediately gains access to the extensive EV functionalities. During testing, the equipment measures and analyzes essential battery parameters such as the State of Charge (SoC) and the State of Health (SoH) of the individual battery cells. By using the supplied breakout cables and brand-specific connectors for Tesla, BMW, Volkswagen, and others, the diagnostic technician can effectively isolate complex cell imbalance, temperature deviations, and communication errors within the high-voltage circuit.

ADVANTAGES

Cost-effective hardware upgrade to full EV diagnostics for existing MS909, MS919, and Ultra systems.
Enables direct data links with the battery management system (BMS) for accurate SoH and SoC readings.
Wide vehicle coverage thanks to the extensive set of brand-specific connectors and breakout cables.

KEY POINTS

Only functional in combination with a compatible Autel MaxiSys tablet and the associated VCI/VCMI.
Physical measurement on battery packs requires strict safety protocols and NEN certification (NEN9140).

Applications and functionalities

The Autel EV Diagnostics Upgrade Kit provides diagnostic technicians with the necessary hardware to perform in-depth electrical and data analyses on high-voltage systems. The primary technical functionalities are described below.

  • Direct BMS Communication: Connects to the battery pack module to read real-time parameters such as cell voltages, temperatures, and internal resistance, without intervention from the vehicle's central gateway.
  • SoH and SoC Analysis: Calculates and visualizes the State of Health and State of Charge based on raw data directly from the battery cells for an objective battery report.
  • System Upgrade via SN: Transforms a standard MaxiSys Ultra, MS919 or MS909 into a full EV diagnostic station by linking the serial number of the EVDiag Box through the Autel portal.
  • Pin-out Diagnostics: Provides the ability to tap and measure signals directly on pins or individual wire bundles using the included breakout leads and adapter cables.

Special features and capabilities

This hardware kit is specifically designed to go beyond standard OBD2 diagnostics and offers specialized solutions for high-voltage applications.

  • Out-of-Vehicle Testing: Enables the technician to read, activate, or calibrate disassembled battery packs on the workbench using external power and the specific adapter cables.
  • VCI Passthrough Technology: The EVDiag Box acts as a secure data bridge (passthrough) that translates the raw EV protocols from the battery into a signal that can be processed by the MaxiFlash VCI or VCMI.
