The OBDSTAR M061 is the adapter cable for the 3-pin diagnostic connector on Yamaha outboard motors. The 3-pin side connects to the engine's factory diagnostic port, while the other end features a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector for your diagnostic device.
Yamaha equips its outboard motors with a proprietary 3-pin connector, which doesn't reflect the volume of data flowing through it—but it does mean a standard automotive OBD2 cable won't fit. This cable serves as the mechanical and electrical bridge between that port and the OBD2 interface of your diagnostic hardware, with no active signal conversion. The housing is compact and the cable is short, making it practical in the tight spaces around a marine engine.
Through this connection, diagnostic signals from the Yamaha engine management system are transmitted, allowing fault codes and engine data to be read. Available functions depend on your specific device and its accompanying software.
