\nThe OBDSTAR M018A is a adapter cablethat the vehicle-specificYamaha 3-pin, 3-pin and 4-pin OBD connectors convert to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connector. The cable is designed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic readers and programmers and provides access to the diagnostic systems of Yamaha motorcyclesthat are equipped with a factory-specific diagnostic port. The cable set includes multiple vehicle-side connectors, allowing various Yamaha connector types to be supported with a single cable.
\nThe M018A connects the proprietary Yamaha diagnostic port — available in two versions with 3+3 and 4 pins — with the J1962 OBD2 Interface from the connected OBDSTAR device. Through this connection, the diagnostic protocols for motorcycles, including K-line communication, routed to the diagnostic system. The cable converts only the physical connection; signal processing and protocol assignment are fully handled by the OBDSTAR device. The fixed cable configuration on the vehicle side ensures that the correct connector fits the diagnostic port of the respective Yamaha motorcycle is connected.\n

The OBDSTAR M018A supports the following diagnostic functions on Yamaha motorcycles when connected to a compatible OBDSTAR device.
- Read fault codes: The diagnostic device reads stored and active diagnostic trouble codes from the motorcycle's ECU via the Yamaha diagnostic port.
- Clear fault codes: After diagnosis and repair work, stored trouble codes are erased from the engine control unit's memory.
- Read live data: Real-time sensor readings and system parameters are displayed during idle or while riding, enabling targeted diagnostics.
- Key and immobilizer programming: Through the OBDSTAR device, keys or immobilizer components can be programmed, depending on the supported Yamaha model.
