The OBDSTAR M086 is an adapter cable that converts a Volvo Penta 6-pin OBD connection to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connection. The cable is intended for use with Volvo Penta combustion engines and allows diagnostic equipment with an OBD2 interface to be connected to engines with a different 6-pin port. The cable is exclusively compatible with OBDSTAR readers or programmers.

The cable provides the physical and electrical connection between the 6-pin Volvo Penta engine connector and the OBD2 port of the diagnostic device. Through this connection, diagnostic data can be read via the CAN-bus or K-line protocol, depending on the engine system. The 6-pin connector on the engine side connects directly to the factory port of the Volvo Penta engine, after which the OBDSTAR device establishes communication with the engine management system to read fault codes and perform other diagnostic tasks.
