The OBDSTAR M012A is the adapter cable for the 6-pin diagnostic connector found on Suzuki motorcycles. It bridges that proprietary connector to the 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) port on your OBDSTAR diagnostic device. On the motorcycle side, it connects to the factory diagnostic socket that gives access to the engine control unit (ECU).
Suzuki fitted a proprietary 6-pin diagnostic connector on many of its models instead of a standard OBD2 port. Communication runs over the K-line. The cable is fully passive — no electronics inside, and no separate interface module needed between motorcycle and scanner.
What the cable provides is access to the diagnostic link with the ECU, nothing more. Which functions you can actually perform depends on your OBDSTAR device's software and licensing; the cable itself doesn't add any vehicle coverage.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
Applications and Functions
Through the 6-pin connector you gain access to the motorcycle's engine management system.
Control units you can reach
- Engine Management (ECU): the control unit for fuel injection and ignition, connected via the K-line on the 6-pin connector.
- Other Systems: whether additional modules are accessible varies by model and depends on your device's coverage.
What You Can Do
- Read Fault Codes: retrieve stored error codes from the ECU, including system and fault information displayed by your device.
- Clear Fault Codes: erase the fault memory of the engine management unit after diagnosis and repair.
- Measure Live Data: read and display real-time sensor values and driving parameters for analysis during or after operation.
- Request ECU Identification: retrieve system and vehicle identification data from the control unit.
- Important: which of these functions are actually available varies by model and by OBDSTAR device.
Compatible Vehicles and Applications
The 6-pin diagnostic connector is what matters, not the model. The Suzuki motorcycles listed below are equipped with that connector and can be read via this cable. Only confirmed models are included; if in doubt, first check the connector on the motorcycle itself.
