The adapter plugs into the manufacturer-specific three-pin diagnostic port found on Kymco and Kawasaki motorcycles, typically located beneath the seat or behind a panel near the handlebars.

Both brands use the same three-pin diagnostic port across a range of models instead of a full OBD2 connection. The pin configuration on the vehicle side is matched to the electrical layout of that port, routing the relevant signal lines — including the K-line — to the corresponding OBD2 pins. This establishes the connection without any modifications to the motorcycle's wiring.
