The OBDSTAR M073 is the adapter cable for the 6-pin Indmar diagnostic port on inboard engines in motor boats. The cable routes that connection to the 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector of your OBDSTAR diagnostic device and connects directly to the factory diagnostic port on the engine side.
Indmar and Steyr engines do not output their diagnostic port in OBD2 format. Both manufacturers use the same 6-pin layout, so a single cable type is sufficient. The wiring carries the communication protocols from the engine system through to the OBD2 side without requiring any modifications to the vessel's existing wiring. What the cable enables is access to the engine management of the inboard engine. Whether fault memory, live data, and other engine system functions are actually available depends on the software of the connected OBDSTAR device.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Via the 6-pin diagnostic port, you can access the engine management system of the inboard motor.
Control units you can reach
- Engine management system: The control unit of the Indmar or Steyr engine connected to the 6-pin diagnostic port.
- Other modules: Whether additional units on board are accessible varies depending on the installation and your device.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine management system so that stored codes are visible on your OBDSTAR device.
- Clear fault codes: Remove stored fault codes after diagnosis and repair.
- Display live data: Monitor real-time engine system parameters such as engine speed, temperature and sensor values.
- Access engine system functions: Establish a diagnostic connection with engine management without modifying the wiring.
- Please note: Which functions are actually available is determined by the OBDSTAR device you use.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The 6-pin Indmar diagnostic port is the determining factor, not the engine model. The manufacturers listed below use this port on their inboard engines. OBDSTAR does not specify particular models with production years.
- Indmar: Inboard engines (motor boat) with 6-pin OBD diagnostic port
- Steyr Motors: Inboard engines (motor boat) with 6-pin OBD diagnostic port
