The OBDSTAR M034 adapter cable is a specialized interface cable developed to establish a connection between Harley-Davidson motorcycles and compatible diagnostic equipment. This cable features a split configuration on the vehicle side with both a 4-pin and a 6-pin diagnostic connector, making it suitable for a wide range of models. On the instrument side, there is a standard 16-pin OBD2 connector, which provides the physical link to the communication interface of the diagnostic tester.
This adapter facilitates communication between the motorcycle's electronic control units (ECU) and the reading device by converting Harley-Davidson's specific pin configuration to the ISO 19689 or J1850 standards. The design supports both older J1850 bus protocols (via the 4-pin connector) and the more modern CAN bus communication (via the 6-pin connector). This enables stable data transfer for reading fault codes, live data, and system identification without the need for multiple separate adapters.

This adapter cable is specifically developed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic equipment (such as the MS80 or iScan series) on motorcycles. The cable covers two generations of diagnostic connectors.
Harley-Davidson:
- Models with 4-pin connector: (Approx. 2001 - 2011/2014) Commonly found on models with Delphi injection systems and the J1850 protocol.
- Models with 6-pin connector: (Approx. 2011 - present) Used on models with CAN-bus architecture, such as Softail (from 2011), Dyna (from 2012), and Touring (from 2014).
