The OBDSTAR FCA (SGW) 12+8-pin adapter cable is a diagnostic adapter specifically developed for vehicles from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). This cable is designed to bypass the Security Gateway Module (SGW), which has been installed in many models since around 2018. The adapter cable connects the vehicle's 12-pin and 8-pin connectors to a standard 16-pin OBD2 port, allowing a diagnostic tool direct access to the vehicle's CAN bus.
Using this bypass cable enables full diagnostic functionality otherwise blocked by the SGW. This allows users not only to read and clear fault codes but also to perform active tests, reset service intervals, and carry out advanced adjustments or programming on various control units in the vehicle.
