The Jaltest OBD215 is the adapter connecting the 12-pin OBD1 diagnostic connector on GM vehicles — commonly known as the ALDL connector — to the standard 16-pin OBD2 interface of the Jaltest Link. On the vehicle side, you'll find the 12-pin connector that plugs into the diagnostic port inside the cab; on the interface side sits the 16-pin OBD2 connector for the Jaltest diagnostic cable. It's a compact design measuring less than six centimeters, fitting neatly between your existing cable and the vehicle connector.
This adapter bridges the communication lines to the Jaltest Link, allowing your diagnostic equipment to access the control modules behind the 12-pin OBD1 connector. Which modules are available depends on your specific vehicle and model year: For pre-EOBD systems, the function set isn't standardized. Commercial vehicles and passenger cars were required to use the standardized 16-pin EOBD connector from January 1, 2001 (petrol) and January 1, 2004 (diesel) onwards; if your vehicle already has that connector, you won't need this adapter. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and features
Using this adapter, you can connect to the control units behind the 12-pin OBD1 connector with Jaltest software. What's available depends on your vehicle.
Control units you can access
- The control units behind the 12-pin OBD1 connector: Which ones these are varies by vehicle and model year; Jaltest shows which systems are covered for each model, along with the control unit identification if the system provides this data.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory from the connected control unit and clear it after repair.
- View live data: The current values from the sensors connected to the control unit.
- What's exactly possible, depends on your vehicle: For pre-EOBD systems, the feature set is not fixed.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This adapter is for the 12-pin OBD1 connector; which connector is in your vehicle depends on the model year.
Application:
- Light commercial vehicles and passenger cars from before EOBD introduction: Petrol until January 1, 2001, diesel until January 1, 2004
- GM vehicles with the 12-pin ALDL connector, the connector GM used before the 16-pin standard was introduced
